Puppy News!

So we're going to pick up the puppy Friday! I'm stoked! That takes care of the problem I was having leaving Mom for a whole day while she's in town next weekend. The puppy will be only 7 weeks, but the breeder said that the puppies are acting ready to go! Woohoo!

Here is Legolas! He will probably be our pup! I'm still having trouble with what I would like to re-name him. I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to Koda and Kai.

Jennifer (the breeder) said that we can meet all of the other puppies and that the other one she suggests for us will still be there for us to look at. This is Aragorn: They're all just too beautiful! So we pretty much have everything ready for the puppy except for his "room" and a bag of food. We might have to buy him new food and water bowls because I kind of gave his to the cat. haha
I will update more though!

Two More Postcards Sent

So I mailed out two more postcards today! One to Portugal and the other to Finland. I get to send those two out because the people in Poland and Finland registered theirs from me today. Yay!

First Received PostCrossing Card!

Today I got my first Postcard in the mail from Postcrossing! It's from Fred in Berlin, Germany! It is beautiful! He picked well- actually he said that he got it in "Switzerland during summer holidays in a little *free basket*"! How cool? I'm pretty ecstatic!

He also added a phrase in German that he translated for me. I ask for people who send cards to me to do that. It also only took 4 days to get to me. He sent it on 10.23.09 (and today is 10.27). haha



I also sent out two postcards, but I forgot to take a picture of them because I was trying to catch the mailman! haha
I'm pretty bummed I didn't take pictures...
One was sent to Germany and it had deer on it.
The other was sent to The Netherlands and had a picture of Deception Pass on it.
Oh well- I will try to never send any again without taking a picture of both sides! haha

Oh yeah- I also figured out how to get the scanner to work so I won't have to "take pictures" of the postcards anymore. Now I can actually make them look good through the scanner! haha

Playing Cards

For as long as I can remember I have collected playing cards. I was collecting playing cards before I knew I was doing so, actually! haha I have decided to start keeping a record of what cards I have. I'm going to go ahead and tell you not to waste your time reading this unless you are buying me a deck and need to make sure I don't have it ;)

PostCrossing Update!

So my first card ever written made it to its destination first too! It was to Iris in Germany! It traveled 8,198 Kms in 4 days! I wasn't expecting that!
That postcard actually beat the CA postcard (or the CA girl just hasn't posted yet).
I thought that was neat though! I really hope I get a postcard soon! I haven't checked the mail yet today- maybe I have one!
I'm off to go get another address so I can send another one!

6 Years of Magical Love

So 6 years ago today (October 23, 2003), Eric asked me out on our first date. Who knew where we would be 6 years from now in that parking lot during crew practice?! So much has happened to us since then. We broke up a few times. Eventually got married April 21, 2007. Moved to WA State June 25, 2007. Had our BabyLove November 6, 2007. Suffered through our first deployment. Been together through it all (for the most part ; ))!
I still can't believe it! I was a junior and he was a senior. He was actually the last person out of his family for me to meet. I was friends with his brother Chris- we rowed together for the Chattanooga Junior Rowing Team. Then I met his awesome parents. Then I met his youngest brother, Sean. Then I finally met Eric. We had actually talked on the phone one night when I had been on the phone with his brother, Chris. Chris had wanted Eric to hear my "cool voice" so he handed him the phone and we chatted. I believe it was quite some time until we actually met. He came to the boathouse and I went up to him and said, "Hey! I'm Whitney, the one with the cool voice!". haha And the rest is history. Kind of. There's quite a but more drama, but it's late and I'm afraid I'll wake Faylen up. Maybe I'll add more later in the day. TaTa for now!

The WE Channel

So I just watched this show, The Secret Lives of Women, on WE. WoW. This is a new show for me. The first particular episode that caught my attention was about Little People. The one I watched tonight was about Strange Relationships or something like that. It was quite.. um... interesting! There were four couples being profiled.
One young couple was from Puyallup, WA and their relationship is different because the guy is 6'4 and the girl is 2'8. They had a baby against all odds and she ended up being a little person too- very adorable! I thought this couple actually seemed like someone my family and I could hang out with.
Another young couple ended up being first cousins. They weren't really people I would hang out with, but that had nothing to do with their being attracted to one another. They were just a little awkward I guess.
An older couple were "strange" because he was transgender and she was bi. She claimed now she had the best of both worlds. Oh- and I'm pretty sure he should still be considered a man because he still had all his female parts (minus boobs) and I think that stills makes him a her, but that's another things. Whatever floats your both- I'm not one to judge.
Anyways- the last couple was also a little older and they dress up as fairies. You've probably actually seen the man in this pair on other shows. I know I've seen him on Conan O'Brien before. I think it's great they have enough self confidence to dress as they do. And he has great hair! haha
With both of the older couple though- it seemed like the women were quite a bit older than the men, but I don't recall the ages ever being revealed so I could be wrong.
But, this show just goes to show you that you can't help who you fall in love with...
Speaking of that- I also saw a show the other night about a mother who fell in love with her son. I had to see what that was all about after Faylen went to sleep. She was forced to give him up for adoption at a young age and when she met him again when he was older, she fell in love with him. It was a sort of displacement because he already had his adoptive mom and didn't want a new one, so his biological mom took the place of his "girlfriend" (her words not mine). Oh and they never acted on the emotions because it was one-sided by the mom. She knew what she felt was wrong, but couldn't help it. She said as long as the adult doesn't act on anything then it's not breaking any laws. She also said that once she became engaged to someone else all those feelings for her son went away. She wrote a book...

But I love shows like this. True Life on MTV, Truth Be Told on TLC (ok most things on TLC), anything about other people's lives. I'm kind of fascinated with other people- especially those that are different from me. I would love to find a job that would have anything to do with studying people! Any ideas? I'm going to do some research! Sociology anything- just have to figure out what jobs will go from there right?! ha

You just send out postcards to a given address and you receive some in return. I have my first five postcards written, now I just have to go mail them tomorrow! The first one I wrote was to someone in Germany, the second was in California, then Finland, China, and lastly Poland. I think it's really neat!

Welcome Home Gambit!

So Eric finally got his kitten! He is a Desert Lynx and should be a whopping 20 lbs when he grows up (in about 3 years). His birth name was Huey, but Eric renamed him Gambit. We met his previous owners in Port Townsend. We took the 10:15 ferry and reached port around 10:45 so we walked around downtown. We ended up finding a pretty cool bookstore where we bought Where the Wild Things Are for Faylen's birthday. We finally met up with the owners around 12 and we picked up our new kitten! I was in a little bit of shock the whole way home. I was like, "We have a cat". It's a little more shocking than right before I was about to give birth to Faylen. It's weird! haha
Anyways- Gambit is 15.5 weeks so almost 4 months old. He has a bob tail and more than the average number of toes on each foot. I'm still getting used to that! I think he's gorgeous!



He is such a sweet cat and we can't wait to get to know him!

Dentist

So Faylen had her first dentist appointment yesterday (10.15.09). I was a little nervous about her not behaving, but she was perfect! I know I shouldn't worry about her, but I still do sometimes!
Anyways- we went to this great pediatric dentist about 3 minutes away and they were amazing! Everyone was so nice! DDS Hill was great! Faylen didn't have to lay down in the chair because she's so young. They just had her sit in my lap and lean back to put her head on DDS Hill's knees. She laid so still and opened her mouth when asked! Such a good girl! She has no cavities, but we have to work on getting rid of the pacey (sp?). They say she's going to need braces, but I had to have them so it was to be expected. We'll deal with braces when the time comes. haha
After the appointment she got a balloon and a new toothbrush! When we got home she decided she wanted to reenact the event so she put her socks on her hands so she could have gloves like her dentist! haha

There's my BabyLove! So overall the dentist was a great experience and we'll do it again in another 6-12 months.
